Changing Dynamics in Hospital and Physician Relationships
This presentation will provide an update on the current environment of hospital and physician relationships. We will discuss recent changes in government regulations, physician practice dynamics, hospital and physician reimbursement and key market/technology/ consumer dynamics influencing the quality of care and the utilization of services. We will also discuss how hospitals and physicians are strategically aligning with one another to minimize the impact these market dynamics are having on their organizations. Influences such as market/hospital size, clinical service line and physician/group dynamics will also be discussed.

Speaker: Michael Glick, manager of healthcare consulting practice at Blue and Co., LLC

Key Bank Diversity Initiative at St. Vincent Charity Hospital
This workforce development grant supports current entry-level caregivers at the hospital in pursuit of careers in health care without loss of their full-time pay and benefits, even though their schedule is reduced to half-time. This program will define the benefits of such a program.

Speaker: Sharon Thomas, RN, BSN, chief nursing officer at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, Cleveland, OH.

Advance Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants: Scope of Practice Issues
There has been an ever-expanding scope of practice for Advance Practice Nurses (APNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). Questions are constantly being raised as to what they can and cannot do in hospital settings - prescriptive authority, histories, physicals, diagnostic orders, etc. This session will deal with these issues to assist hospitals in developing privilege sets and educating other hospital staff who work with these allied health professionals.

Speaker: Allen Killworth, partner at Bricker & Eckler, LLP
